Photographing Our Own “Runner” Toddler!
“If you’ve ever tried to take photos of your toddler and ended up chasing them more than clicking the camera, you’re not alone. We’ve been there!”
Our daughter, Lea, is what we lovingly call a runner. She moves fast, laughs loud, and has absolutely no interest in sitting still. She is a perfect example of a “hard-to-get” model and of course, she knows it.

When we decided to photograph her for a Halloween-themed personality session, we thought it would be fun. It was but it was also a workout for us!
Lea has always been her own little person. She’s not a “princess” type. She’d rather play the villain, wave a pretend wand, and take off running with her brothers. She loves bold colors, dark tones, and anything that feels powerful and fun. The outfit Jenny made for her is a black dress with sparkling stars and a tiny witch hat which fit her perfectly.
“It wasn’t about looking pretty. It was about showing who she really is!”
When we started taking pictures, she took off before the first click. We quickly realized that asking her to sit still wasn’t going to happen. We let her do her thing, ran with her, laughed with her, and waited for those quick moments that said this is her.
By the end of it, we were sweaty, tired, and completely in love with the photos. Every frame showed a piece of her spirit: wild, curious, and full of life. That is what most parents go through in every session. The wiggles, the running, the unpredictability. It’s not a challenge, it’s the magic. These are the moments that show exactly who they are right now.
Now, whenever we photograph a little runner, we know exactly how to handle it. We’ve lived it, and we know it’s worth it. Because those messy, lively moments? They’re the ones you’ll want to remember most.
If your little one’s a runner too, don’t worry, we see the beauty in that.
Every dash, giggle, and blur of motion tells a story you’ll want to remember one day.
At Luminari Photography, we don’t chase perfect poses.
We chase real moments because childhood was never meant to sit still.
